What is the PreventT2 Lifestyle Change Program?
PreventT2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is scientifically proven to help people with prediabetes prevent or delay development of type 2 diabetes via a health coach that helps you with nutrition, fitness and other lifestyle changes
You may be able to reimburse expenses through your Health Savings Account but will have to check with your employer/provider.
This is a year-long program that covers the following:
Exercise:
- How to find time for fitness
- Creative ways to get exercise in during the day in small bouts
- Scheduling your workouts
- Overcoming all-or-nothing thinking when it comes to exercise
- Staying active away from home
- Tracking you fitness
Nutrition:
- Basic Nutrition
- Portion Control
- Avoiding Distractive eating and becoming more mindful
- Creating a helpful environment for eating
- Understanding hunger cues
- Shopping and meal planning
- Food prep and cooking
- Eating well when going out and when on vacations
Lifestyle:
- Creating S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, - Realistic & Time-Bound
- Learn about prediabetes and affects on body
- Creating better sleep habits
- Creating good environments to get back on track
- Stress reduction techniques
- Time management
- Overcoming distortional thinking
- Planning for social/routine/emotional situations
- Overcoming triggers
- Creating a healthy support system
- Dealing with those that may not support your lifestyle change
- Staying motivated
- Getting back on track if lapse occurs
